3… 2… 1… MEGALAUNCH! TonyBowls.com Is LIVE.
Recently, we here at Projekt, Inc. helped our good friend and client — fashion designer and entrepreneur Tony Bowls — launch an enormous new website to showcase his dresses, gowns, tuxedos and accessories in all their crazyawesome superglory. It was a seriously huge project. And it was crazy awesome. Super glorious even.
Unlike the billion other fashion sites in the world, we wanted his designs to explode off the page and send your screen whimpering to its pixelated mother. To do this, we used a little thing called mathematics (you’ve probably heard of it) to develop an algorithm that fills your entire display with each beautifully photographed piece, regardless of your screen size. All because we wanted the user to experience and feel the dresses, rather than just look at them.
But the site doesn’t stop there. Did you really think it would?
To further richify (that’s made-up word number three, for you folks keeping score at home) the overall experience, we added a celebrity showcase, a video/content section, and “favoriting” functionality allowing users to tag dresses they like, bring them into a personalized “dressing room” account, and update them from anywhere on Earth. Like Paris. Or Starbucks. Or a corner booth in a 1920s replica boxcar diner.
While the design and development were brain-meltingly complicated, the WordPress foundation it’s built on allows Tony to effortlessly update and modify content, news items, profiles, and whatever else is going on in his world no matter where he is or what he’s doing. So as his business grows and evolves, so too will his website. In real time.
The new Tony Bowls website was one of the most complex and comprehensive projects we’ve had the privilege to dig in to and blow out. We’re thrilled to have been a part of such a huge project and can’t wait to see what Tony does next.
