If we’ve learned anything, it’s that inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere. Like, for instance, from the backs of some old school, poorly printed matchbooks you happen upon while tooling around on the web. Err, working. Coincidentally, this was our spark for the overall design of the Eat At My Desk website. The type is bold, each element serves a distinct purpose, and the coloration is distressed and worn to give it all the charm of aging, oxidized ink. Head on over to the Eat At My Desk site to see it in action.

There’s a special place in our hearts (and stomachs) for your classic, old school, roadside diner. The way they look, their simplicity, the neon signs, and the glorious mound of bacon that takes up prime real estate on every dish. Yuuu-uuu-uuummm. Anyway, this aesthetic inspired our approach to the Eat At My Desk logo design. We wanted it to invite the visitor in the same way a big, colorful sign on the side of the road would. Warm, welcoming, delicious.

It’s launching season, everybody. As in business launching. As in we here at Projekt, Inc. are pressing the big green GO button on a new business venture we’ve been developing with a few other partners. Yep, we’ve gone double entrepreneur and cooked up some Projekt Intellectual Property. Or P.I.P. for short. We couldn’t be more excited. It’s called Eat At My Desk.

What Eat At My Desk does is pairs corporations large and small with surrounding restaurants to create a kind of virtual food court situation for their employees. Basically, when someone gets hungry, they can place an order of any size with one of our partnering eateries and it will magically arrive at their desk shortly thereafter. Presto! That’s Eat At My Desk in a nutshell. A deliciously simple nutshell.

Being partners in this new venture and all, Projekt, Inc. has been responsible for soup to nuts branding, design, interactive experience and general aesthetic pleasantness. As inspiration, we took cues from old, iconic roadside diners, their bold typography, and the classic look and feel that made them so warm and inviting. We’re drooling for greasy bacon and maple syrup just thinking about it. You can feast your eyes on the work section and work section or head on over to the Eat At My Desk headquarters to dig around a little further.

Fashion is a fickle beast. It’s always changing, constantly evolving and, unless you’re a super famous fashion maven like Cindy Crawford or Snookie, it’s super hard to keep up with. So most of us just do the best we can and hope not to embarrass ourselves in public.

But what if fashion did more than just look good? What if it was made like a puzzle, something for people to really engage with? Sharply designed riddles that invited people to figure them out?

Well, then you’d have Figure It Out, our newest client and purveyors of awesomely fashionable intelligence.

They came to Projekt, Inc. for the whole enchilada. By bringing us in on the ground floor, we were able to bring the entire business to life with strategy, branding, interactive and traditional design and a killer identity system. Then, to add icing to the cool cake, we partnered with our good pal and illustrator extraordinaire, Scotty Reifsnyder, to create the actual t-shirt line itself. What a blast.

So head on over to their website and take a peek at what they’re up to, would you? Then you should probably buy some of their shirts. Like, at least ten. Minimum.

Head to our work section to check it out.

When we were asked to bring Piazza 17 to life, we went straight back to classic, old-school Italy for inspiration. Think sidewalk café on the Mediterranean style with a vintage, weathered, hand-painted vibe that’s as fresh as their pies and pays homage to classic, delicious pizza history. Mmm, pizza history.

Part commerce. Part showcase. All fun. Figure It Out has such a cool business on their hands and we couldn’t wait to help them get it off the ground.

They call them t-shirts for a reason. And one look at the Figure It Out logo will take you right to that magical ah-ha moment we in the biz work so hard to find. So, using a shirt as a typographical element was a no brainer. And to help further communicate the idea of the tees as conversation starters, we housed it in a talk bubble.

There are three ingredients in every pie Piazza 17 makes. Awesome, incredible and booyah. Yes, booyah. Lots of it. Seriously, these guys are the real deal and bring the heat to Manhattan’s NoLita neighborhood.

So when they asked us to help them bring their delicious labor of love to life, we were pretty stoked. One, because their awesomesauce (real word) is out of this world. Two, they’re just great, talented folks with a solid vision.

After doing some edible research, we dug our heels in and gravitated to the vibe of an old, Italian sidewalk joint. The real classic kind of place, with a vintage, hand-painted sign, weathered, wind-beaten and distressed by sunlight and time. We think we landed on something that matches the spirit and character of the chefs and their food. We also think that all this pizza talk is making us hungry. Who’s in for a slice?

Head to our work section to check it out.
